Lessons from Austin

This weekend we had the opportunity to attend the Orthodox Christian Camp & Youth Worker Conference.  It was held in Austin, at the beautiful Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church.  The keynote speaker, Fr. Apostolos Hill, who was/is extremely inspiring shared his experience, as well as tasked us with cultivating our youths’ spiritual gifts and talents.   We also learned from other amazing speakers: His Grace Bishop Thomas of the Antiochian Archdiocese, Fr. Michael Ellis, Christina Andresen, Christian Gonzalez, Christy Schiller, Rev. Dr. Joseph Purpua, and Jennifer Nahas.

Likewise, it was such a blessing to be surrounded by so many individuals who have dedicated their lives to serving our Orthodox youth.  Though their (and so many others who could not attend) hard work and love for Christ, youth programs and camps across the country thrive.  Their excitement and dedication is contagious, and we are truly blessed to have them.  I also want to thank those who dedicated their lives to teaching my generations youth programs and camps, and those of them who continue to do so.  My life would not be the same without you!
