The Philoxenia House – Rochester, Minnesota

I wanted to share with you a moving video about The Philoxenia House, a wonderful ministry happening in Rochester, Minnesota.

“The Philoxenia House Ministry demonstrates love for our “neighbor” which is a pillar of our Orthodox Christian Faith, and hospitality that is representative of our heritage. We offer free temporary housing to individuals and families visiting the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota, within a Christian Orthodox environment that provides spiritual healing and comfort. Our small parish of Holy Anargyroi, with the blessings of our Metropolitan Iakovos of Chicago, established in 2004 the first house, the “Philoxenia House.” In 2007, we expanded and now operate a second house, “St. Iakovos House.” The need for additional housing has prompted us to begin a campaign for the building of “Philoxenia Village” with the capacity to accommodate up to 20 guests and their families. The houses are operated by volunteers that are parishioners of our Church.”

You can learn more about this wonderful ministry on their website at and on their facebook page.
